Accenture has acquired Swedish strategic consultant, Northstream to expand its capabilities in the Nordic region.

Northstream offers services to mobile operators, network and handset vendors, and the industry at large. The company helps communications service providers (CSPs) identify industry shifts, adapt to market changes, and make capital out of new business and technology opportunities.

With this acquisition, Accenture will aim to tackle CSP demand for network consulting programmes around 5G deployment and IoT connectivity, along with major transformational programmes that could comprise of telecom network cloud deployments and operating model transformations. Nearly 30 professionals from Northstream will be joining Accenture’s communications, media & technology operating group and will boost its communications and media industry consulting capability.

Mattias Lewrén, Nordic CMT lead and Sweden country managing director at Accenture, said: “With Northstream now part of Accenture, we’re in an even stronger position to provide our communications clients with the innovation led services they need to address the challenges they’re facing — including digital-driven disruption, changing customer expectations, and competition from new digital natives.”

A recent report from Everest Group, titled “Enterprise Platform IT Services in Banking and Financial Services PEAK Matrix Assessment 2019”, which analysed 20 service providers on several capability-related dimensions associated with enterprise platform IT services, has named Accenture as a leader based on two criteria. First is Market Impact, which measures service providers’ market adoption, portfolio mix and value delivered to clients, and the second is Vision and Capability, which includes criteria such as strategy, service scope, investments and innovation, and delivery footprint.
