Singtel has launched Paragon, an “all-in-one” platform that helps enterprises tap its 5G network for next-generation applications.
Paragon can be used for on-demand 5G network slicing, deploying mission-critical applications on Singtel MEC (multi-access edge compute), and accessing the telco’s large ecosystem of partner applications.
Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer Group Enterprise at Singtel, said:
“Many enterprises are undergoing rapid digitalisation while exploring and developing tailored 5G solutions for deployment in their industries.
We understand the challenges and complexities that they face in managing the various networks, edge cloud applications and services with the required cyber security, resiliency, and demanding service assurances required, cost-effectively.
Paragon was conceived, developed, and delivered to help enterprises meet these needs through a single platform.”
Among the potential use-cases for Paragon is the deployment of solutions for augmented reality and logistics management.
“We are pleased to already witness exciting and successful trials being conducted on Paragon and invite partners in 5G-related fields, from chipset manufacturers, Internet-of-Things devices, apps and software developers, content producers, systems integrators and solution providers, to join us, as we scale this platform regionally and globally with other telecommunication leaders to benefit customers in a 5G world,” said Chang.
Singtel is confident that its 5G network will unlock new use-cases thanks to its huge improvements in latency and much higher bandwidth throughput. Combined with edge computing – supporting faster decision-making where the data resides – use cases for things like autonomous robotics are enabled.
Executives from Singtel demonstrated the simplicity of deploying a fleet management application powered by event streaming platform Solace during a media briefing. The application was quickly deployed instantly through a dashboard.
The Paragon Marketplace features a growing number of such applications for enterprises to quickly deploy innovative solutions as required.
