A report available at Research and Markets reveals that telecom revenue in Argentina declined 17.1% in 2014, in terms of US$, as the local currency underwent devaluation. Total telecom service revenue is set to witness negligible growth, rising from $9.36 billion in 2014 to $9.96 billion in 2018.
In 2014, the Argentine mobile market brought in 73.4% of all telecom revenue, totaling 62.22 million SIM connections. Mobile broadband lines comprised 41.2% of those SIMs.
The number of fixed telephony lines will fall to 8.40 million in 2018 from 10.54 million in 2014 on account of fixed-mobile substitution that is currently underway, resulting in a loss of 20.3%. The market share of VoIP lines via DSL networks will increase to 31.9% in 2018 from 19.8% in 2014.
Meanwhile, the fixed broadband market is slated to reach 7.66 million accounts by 2018. The research report projects that xDSL will maintain its leadership in last-mile access technology, though able modem and FTTx subscriptions will also post growth.
