Nokia is partnering with Lenovo to modernise data centre networking for AI and machine learning workloads.
The collaboration will merge Lenovo’s ThinkSystem AI-ready servers and storage capabilities with Nokia’s data centre network solution, including its recently launched Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform. This integration targets enterprises, telcos, and cloud service providers seeking robust infrastructure for compute-intensive operations.
At the heart of this partnership lies the growing demand for AI model training and inference capabilities. The alliance addresses the critical need for high-speed, secure interconnectivity between data centres and edge locations, where AI clusters require seamless networking both internally and across distributed sites.
The joint solution introduces a validated blueprint architecture that promises enhanced observability and programmability—essential features for adapting to dynamic workload requirements. Both companies have emphasised the security aspects of their offering, incorporating real-time threat detection and prevention mechanisms to combat increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.
Sustainability plays a crucial role in the partnership’s value proposition. The solution leverages energy-efficient designs to reduce power consumption and operational costs, addressing one of the most pressing concerns in modern data centre operations.
