EE's traffic grows sixfold as MNO hits 7.7 million 4G subscribers

In the last two months alone, EE has added 1.7 million customers to reach 7.7 million 4G subscribers. This is not only more than any other operator across Europe, but also beat the company's own internal year-end target of 6 million by some distance as a result of the UK MNO's rapid-expansion.

Qualcomm, Huawei, and EE complete LTE Category 9

Chip-maker Qualcomm, network vendor Huawei, and UK mobile operator EE, have announced today the completion of interoperability testing of LTE Category 9 which features download speeds of up to 410 Mbps. The test used Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 810 processor with integrated LTE-A modem, Huawei's commercial infrastructure solution, and was conducted over EE's '4G+' network.

France to hold DTT spectrum auction in 2015

Spectrum which is currently in-use for Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) is set to be up for auction in France to be awarded to telecoms operators in December 2015. The government plans to auction spectrum in the 700 MHz frequency for use as mobile broadband in license deals expected to generate upwards of €2 billion.

Freeview gets shafted in 4G expansion

Ofcom has announced plans to allocate spectrum in the 700MHz frequency band in-use by Freeview television services for the ongoing expansion of 4G. EE and O2 offer fastest 4G speeds, Three trails behind

UK telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has published a report which details the performance of 4G networks by the country’s biggest operators. 210,000 indoor and outdoor tests were conducted between March and June this year in order to analyse real-world results of what customers can expect beyond the vague theoretical max speed numbers often advertised.

EE switches on its 150Mbps LTE-A network in London - but iPhone 6 isn't supported

The UK's biggest mobile operator, EE, has announced that it has switched-on its LTE-Advanced network which will offer download speeds of up to 150Mbps. To begin with, it will only be available in central London but the service will expand outwards to cover greater London and "the UK's busiest cities" by the end of 2015.

Devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 support this new modem, but users of the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus feature Category 4.

South Korea and US in fast lane for LTE rollout, report reveals

Nokia and SK Telecom achieve 3.78 Gbps LTE through the convergence of TDD and FDD spectrums

Nokia and SK Telecom has achieved a throughput speed of 3.78 Gbps through the convergence of TDD and FDD LTE spectrums. It made use of 10 separate frequencies for the two LTE variants across 200MHz bandwidth.
