Microsoft acquires Nokia, now it’s time for Windows Phone 1.0

This morning, Microsoft made the (shock?) announcement the company has acquired Nokia for the rather meagre sum of $7.2 Billion. You don’t have to be a top analyst to realise this has been on the cards for a long time; but the deal could mean Windows Phone can really get off the ground.

Telefónica buys E-Plus to create Germany’s largest operator

Telefónica has bought KPN’s German subsidiary E-Plus - in a deal worth €5 billion ($6.6 billion) to create Germany’s largest operator.

The Spanish firm - who already has a hand in the German market - will take up a 65 percent majority stake in the company. The combination of the company’s current customer base with KPN’s will mean a cumulative base of 43 million customers; controlling 40 percent of Germany’s users.

Apple is bidding for the Kinect motion peripheral

Ok, so that may have been a slightly misleading headline; Apple is bidding for the company which designed and created the original Kinect device used first in Microsoft’s Xbox console - PrimeSense.
