Amazon is reportedly gearing up to offer wireless plans alongside its Prime subscriptions in the United States.

According to a Bloomberg report, the e-commerce giant has engaged in negotiations with major US operators including Verizon, T-Mobile, Dish, and AT&T to explore the possibility of leveraging their networks to provide wireless services.

The report further stated that Amazon could offer this service to Prime subscribers either as part of their existing subscription or for an additional $10 per month.

Despite the claims made in the report, an Amazon spokesperson has denied the company’s pursuit of such a move at the present time.

“We are always exploring adding even more benefits for Prime members, but don’t have plans to add wireless at this time,” the spokesperson said.

T-Mobile and Verizon have also denied being in negotiations with Amazon. Additionally, AT&T confirmed to The Verge that it is not discussing reselling wireless services with Amazon.

However, according to undisclosed sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Dish is reportedly holding talks with Amazon. The discussions could lead to the unveiling of new mobile plans to be sold on Amazon’s platform as early as next month.

Amazon has established a reputation for entering various markets and launching successful ventures, spanning industries such as groceries, TV production, and cloud computing.

The idea of Amazon venturing into offering wireless packages would not be entirely surprising. If anything, it would be more surprising not to see Amazon make such a move.

Amazon’s extensive customer base and its ability to tap into existing Prime subscriptions would give it a significant advantage. However, until any parties confirm, file this one under speculation.
