UK broadband users download 17gb of data a month

UK households with home broadband connections download an average of 17 gigabytes of data a month. This is equivalent to watching 11 movies or 12 hours of pre-recorded television content.

Intel turns its back on Smart TV

Intel Corp is moving away from the TV system-on-chip (SoC) market, as it struggles to compete with other companies.

According to an IHS market tracker report last week, Intel lost out in market shares, holding 2% compared to Mstar Semiconductor Inc’s 39% in the first half of 2011.

Media Tablet Owners Purchase Online More Frequently

Recent findings from a survey of U.S. smartphone and tablet owners indicate that tablet ownership increases the frequency of mobile shopping, improves the purchase experience -- and makes people who own both devices use their smartphone more often. 84.5 Million People in the U.S. Now Own a Smartphone

comScore released data reporting the key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry during the three month average period ending August 2011. The study surveyed more than 30,000 U.S. mobile subscribers and found Samsung to be the top handset manufacturer overall with 25.3 percent market share.
