Samsung Galaxy S10 hit 2.7Gbps in SK Telecom’s final 5G testing phase

SK Telecom reports it managed to achieve high download speeds in the final phase of its 5G tests using a Samsung Galaxy S10.

As part of a partnership between the South Korean companies, the duo reached a download speed of 2.7Gbps. SK Telecom noted a 2GB movie can be downloaded within six seconds at these speeds.

The test was conducted over SK Telekom's 3.5GHz spectrum and also used Samsung's virtual core which supports 4G and 5G simultaneously.

T-Mobile resists extending price freeze if Sprint merger proceeds

T-Mobile CEO John Legere resisted a call to freeze consumer prices for longer than his company’s three-year pledge if the Sprint merger proceeds.

Speaking to a House Judiciary Committee, Legere responded to questions from Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Ga.) and Judiciary Committee Antitrust Chair David Cicilline (D-R.I.), who requested a price cap of more than three years.

Vodafone has 5G data live in Bristol, Cardiff, and Liverpool

Vodafone has switched on 5G sites with live data in three cities alongside laying out its plans to launch in 19 towns and cities across the UK during 2019.

The operator has now launched 5G test sites in Bristol, Cardiff, and Liverpool. These sites are streaming 5G mobile data traffic, while antennas and equipment have also been installed at sites in Birmingham, Glasgow, and London prior to going live.

Vodafone has launched a 5G service at Manchester airport in a public trial demonstrating the latest generation network's advantages.

Sprint is suing AT&T for its ‘misleading’ 5G-E branding

While rivals started off by mocking AT&T for its ‘misleading’ 5G-E branding, Sprint is taking it a step further and suing the operator.

SK Broadband is having to double its capacity for Netflix

South Korean fixed broadband operator SK Broadband has said it’s having to double its network capacity to cope with Netflix demand.
